Infiniti to kill its V-8 engine

ill adised

Hmmmm, Hate to see that.

well, you know what they say, "There is no replacement for Displacement," and I totally agree. I can't imagine our QX without a V-8.
Yeah, I know some V-6's generate some horsepower, but that 5.6 V8 creates it without 'buzziness' :)

Well I like my diesel truck and I like my QX56, just the way they are. If government would get out of mandating how to make automobiles, and let the market decide! Geesh, they have tried to kill the V-8 since the eighties!

Thanks
Parrott
2011, QX56, Black on black, 20 inch wheels, 6177 miles and one big hon-kin V8 that puts a smile on your face :D

oh no! I wonder if that's going to kill the towing capacity? That's the main reason I have the QX.. my lease isn't up for 2 yrs maybe I need to baby this one as I'd have to buy it at the end of the lease..

towing

Mikefarm: you bet your bottom dollar that it will eliminate the towing capacity!
I doubt you can get 420 Ft-LBS torque out of ANY V6, no matter how many Turbo's you hang on the side of it !

I guess they will have to change the name from QX56 to QX36 ? LOL

Yeah Man, Take care of that of that QX56!
Have a good one !

I like v8's no doubt. But I'd like to see slightly better mileage...so things like cylinder deactivation would be nice features to have.

well yeah Diesel would be totally cool

But I just thought we were talkin gas engines. Sure diesel has much more torque, most of your over the road trucks are straight six diesel.
Yeah drop a Cummins turbo diesel, into a QX like the ISB's in the Dodge Rams, and Holy Cow !
You would have a stump-pulling towing monster!
A whole new following would buy the QX. They could sell so many QX's with that diesel engine.
But with a diesel motor we couldn't have passenger rated tires no more! Diesels are very heavy. We would need truck tires and a heavy duty transmission.
People that tow RV travel trailers always were looking for the Ford Excursions with the diesel engine. They are much sought after about ten years later after production ended. Room for family and can pull 10k pounds easily.
Yeah, we are dreaming now, a Diesel QX.

If it had a Cummins Turbo diesel, could be a QX59 or QX67 :D

Desidon, you would see better fuel mileage to with a diesel engine.
That would be wild!
Have a good one !

nissan said they were killing the armada and QX in 2009 and they both are still being made....
