My 1997 J-Dirty is having some fun and ridiculous issues with the front-end. First, when I brake, the driver-side front wheel jostles, vibrates, and shakes my car until I really get on the brakes. I believe this is due to a warped rotor on that side?
Second, and this issue is very recent, I noticed that the boots in my half-axles are a bit torn up and leaking axle grease, but recently between 40 and 50 MPH the driver-side front wheel jostles a great deal, vibrates, and shakes the car quite a bit. Not enough to wreck while I'm driving, but it sure is annoying and feels unsafe.
This jostling ceases if I'm turning hard at that speed, then resumes when I straighten out. It continues a little bit past 50MPH, but isn't too bad until 80MPH again.
Is this a worn-down half-axle, or perhaps something else? It's a RWD car of course, so the front wheels have no drive power, but it makes steering quite a task with all this vibration and jostling.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
