Hi there,
My girlfriends instrument cluster on her i35 is having issues. The warning lights are fine, but the gauge lights are dead. After checking around on the internet I found this is a common problem and swapping the cluster myself is likely the cheapest option.
However the few places I have found clusters all have warnings that the dealer may need to reprogram it to work with the car. I called our dealer here and they refused saying they will only put in a cluster themselves.
My question is, what actually gets programmed? Is it just the mileage? or does it have to be programmed to work with the computer in the car?
If a straight swap is only going to throw the mileage off I will do it myself, if not (baring any hints here) ill just take it to the dealer and pay the $800
