I have access to buy a 2000 I30 for my daughter. I know the car is 13 years old. However is it a good car or should i stay away from it it has 200KM 120m
all new brakes and brakelines. other that that i don't know much about the car.

2000 i30

I drove the 1999 i30 for nine years. It is similar in drivetrain, but 20% less power than the 2000 year. Fuel economy is better in the 2000 as well. Take a look at Edmunds review here:

http://www.edmunds.com/infiniti/i30/2000/#fullreview

I would look at a couple areas prior to purchase:
1. CV boots not torn
2. Shocks and struts in good condition. If ride is "bouncy" then they need replacement (around $1000 to replace all 4).
3. Check air filter. Should be fairly clean if owner kept up with regular service.
4. Check oil level with dipstick and ask owner about oil weight used (i believe it should be 5W30 and fully synthetic is best)

Overall it is a great car for the price. Mine was very reliable!

they are good cars there are a couple of main areas to look at when checking the vehicle such as the timing chain cover are above the alt. pulley if you see any seepage their could need water pump or timing chain tensioners. when your facing the vehicle this will be on the left side above the serpentine belt.

this picture shows the area it could be leaking from more towards the right were the coolant hose is heading in is more of a concern. listen to engine for sound see if it revs clean the chain on start up before oil reaches it should be defined but not too loud and if it stays loud or squeals there's and expensive repair.

but overall these cars are very reliable and the engine should last for a long time unless it was very poorly maintained. the spot i mentioned is the only thing the car is someone known for having an issue it poorly maintained or higher miles. i always check any car when buying a used vehicle the radiator cap is see if there's any signs of oil and the oil fill cap for signs of coolant mixing into the oil which would leave a white or foaming residue on the underside of this cap. this cars are strong like i was saying it would take a hell of a beating or a ton of mistreatment to make this car not reliable at 120k they hit 200k all the time.
