I noticed last night one of my parking light bulbs in the front headlight assembly is out. Anyone know how to replace that bulb or have a link to instructions or a video?

I look under the hood and it appears to be sealed off by metal so not sure how to get access in to that area.

You can actually reach under the metal obstruction. You will not be able to see it. But you can feel it. And turn to the right and it will come out. You can see images of the backside of the headlight on some eBay auctions of used headlights. It will help you understand where to feel for it. I replaced the bulbs on my 2012 with LEDs.

On ebay. Search "led 2825 5watt". In the process of switching out all incandescent bulbs for LEDs. Did the front parking and license plate lights already. Doing reverse and interior bulbs next

ive changed out all the LEDS. I use VLEDs.com.

the only ones I was not willing to change was the side marker lamps on the headlight housing because you have to remove the wheel well finisher to gain access to that and i was too lazy to go through all of that for those tiny cats.

the parking lamps will need resistors should you choose to add LEDS.

also I put some blue leds in the cabin.. looks very unique and people compliment the look.

Do most LEDs or the VLEDs come with resistors and how hard are they to install with resistors?

How hard is the parking light to install if you're just replacing the halogen bulb with another OEM halogen bulb? It sounds difficult given you can't see what you're doing. I still haven't tried to reach my hand underneath to feel for the bulb and pull it out. I will try that tonight.

Not hard. Just have to know what your feeling for. Easy way is to feel for the headlight housing and feel for wiring going into the back of the light.

Marc. Have you upgraded the fog lights? Was thinking of going hid as I read led fog doesn't provide enough useable lighting.

yes i put HIDs in the fog lights. VLEDS.com has them.

you dont need to add resistors to anything other than the brake leds. the filament lamps standard on the Q draw more current than LEDS so the resistor is needed to prevent the hyper blinking.

Was able to easily get the bad bulb out tonight. Now I just need to find new LED bulbs.

Can someone point me to or share a link for what I should buy from VLEDs.com or eBay.com. I searched for led 2825 5watt on eBay but the best I could find was 1.5watt.

Also, what is HID?

Marc, I want to order hid for my fogs as well. What k number is closest to our lo's in the 2012's? I want them to match if possible. What k color for for the backup lights led?
What are the part numbers for the interior lights? The fitment guide only shows exterior lights.

Thanks as always for all of your help!!

Chris

chris,

gosh my friend I do not remember the numbers you seek. :o

you can go to VLEDS and look at the filament chart for the 2011. there is a sylvania chart the site links you to. that is where I picked up my info from.

you want a more white Kelvin for the fogs. 6K is a good starting point.

I apologize I am not much help... I dont even know where the receipt is for any of those bulb numbers, but the sylvania link off VLEDS will for help. I also think the bulb number is in the owners booklet also?

I am looking to upgrade the running/parking lights and fogs as well. Looks like vleds is out of parking currently #2825. The fogs are H8 and they have some of those but ouch they are $50. Let me know if I am missing something or if that sounds about right for these.

Sounds about right. I just ordered a set for my fogs last night along with all led's for the interior, tag lights and backup bulbs. Unfortunately this was all part of an order from an online dealer that told me the parts were in stock and turns out they were being direct shipped from the manufacturer and the eta was around 3 weeks for all of the parts to get here. Not good but I might have been ok with it if the dealer had not told they were in stock and would ship today when I placed the order last night. I canceled the entire order. Around $1500 worth as I was also doing a total upgrade to my pickup lights from oem to hid/led. I was looking forward to having a bulb changing, light housing replacing day in the garage but for now it's on hold.
I spoke with a guy at VLED yesterday and he was a complete a hole over the phone. Hope your experience was better. I won't ever order anything from them because of him. Too many dealers out there to put up with that lack of service.
Anyways now I am in the market to repurchase all of these items so I am looking for a dealer who actually stocks these products or at the very least is willing to disclose that the parts will ship direct from the manufacturer.
Sorry for the rant. Needed to get it off my chest. I spent four and a half days mulling over all of the options before deciding on the setup only to have to cancel it the next day. Bummed.

I also found vleds not to be to helpful and too expensive. I found iJDMTOY.com they have a real nice interior kit for the QX and their prices are fairly low. They're California based and my order was shipped the next day, should arrive here tomorrow or the day after. Check them out!!

Does anyone know how to replace the fog lights on a 2012 QX?
Thanks for any reply.

When you reach up under the bumper you will find the foglight. A 1/4 turn will remove the bulb. Make sure to wear gloves and don't touch the bulbs with bare skin. Replace the bulb or add hid ballasts, etc.

Enjoy.

Easily accessible.

Digging up an old thread

How much room do we have for the 194 bulbs in the parking light, marker light locations by the headlight?
There are several variants of that bulb from the stick type to a projector lens.
Open the attachment to see what I mean…
I want to get these ordered and don't know which ones to order?
All will work but some may not fit?
