I just bought a 2011 QX56, noticed a loud high-pitched sound when starting cold in the mornings. It doesn't sound like a belt because it's more of an electrical "whining" sound than a screech. The sound goes up and down with the rpms as I press and release the gas. I just recently realized that if I rev the engine maybe to 4K or 5K rpms it goes away immediately. Otherwise it takes 2-3 minutes to go away with normal driving.

Anyone else have that issue?

sounds like an isolated issue, can you post up a sound clip? difficult to speculate given your description. it sure does sound like a belt based on what you say though.. :)

are you getting any codes?
since you "just bought it", take it back to the seller. was it private party or dealer?

what's the maintenance records on it and the mileage?

Thanks for the feedback. I’m thinking it’s the alternator. Here’s the link:
