I have a J30 with 310K miles and some of the sensors are starting to go. I asked my mechanic if I can rip out all the BS sensors, emission controls and he said it was impossible. I was wondering if anyone has stripped down their J30 motor, vacuum lines, pollution crap, over-engineered sensors etc. In other words, can you take the engine system and turn it into what the old original fuel injection motors were back when things were simple?
