My 2002 Infiniti I35 has around 80,000 miles now and is doing great! However There are times when I experience a problem when braking. Here is the scenario; if I accelerate from stop, and have to come to an abrupt stop the pedal feels like there is no boost assist. I am new to this site, but have read many excellent pieces of advice on this subject and began to suspect the brake booster vacuum hose. I did not detect any leaks (bench tested with compressed air) but did see that there is a flared section of the rubber with what looks like an arrow stamped on it (can barely make it out). Since this problem only happens when there is a sudden change in the manifold vacuum pressure (decceleration) is it safe to say that this is a check valve in the hose and that it is malfunctioniong? I love my car, but my wife is afraid to drive it ;-) when the Altima is being serviced. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
