Need some real assistance, have a I35 with 151k miles on it. Just had new struts and front tires and alignment done because of a front end whine noise.

After the job was done the noise still was there, took it to another mechanic who checked the front end wheel bearings and said that they were ok, but that the tires were the cause now of the whine, so I returned to the dealership and they replaced the tires.

Problem is still there!

I am at a loss here to figure out who is correct in what these mechanics are saying.

When the car is off the ground, it has no front wheel movement when shaken, BUT I have noticed that the brake disc is a little loose! Should that be correct? It is that way on both sides.

Anybody out here who knows the real solution to this?

Is it a violin sort of noise? If so, it may be your brakes.

That probably isn't the problem though...I would think thats the first thing a mechanic would check for.

Does the noise progress with speed, or wheel movement either over bumps or side to side. Or is it from the motor? Is it there when you rev the engine in neutral? Now when you say the rotors were loose is that with the wheels torqued down?
