So my car has a misfire that is causing it to rumble badly, drive sluggishly, etc. The shop I went to said that I need new spark plugs and ignition coils. They also mentioned my valve cover was leaking oil and needed to be replaced.
1. I found replacement spark plugs and ignition coils on eBay that were much, much cheaper than what I can find elsewhere. The shop has extremely positive reviews, but I'm still skeptical. Does anyone have any experience buying parts on eBay? These are the parts.
Alternatively, does anywhere know the best place to buy low-price parts that are likely to work?
2. I don't have much experience working on cars, but from the few videos I've watched it seems like simply removing some bolts, moving some pieces to the side, etc., which I'm plenty capable of. That said, they all skip showing certain portions of the repair. Is there anything else I should know, like pro tips, special tools, etc. that will help make this repair go smoothly?
3. How important is replacing the valve cover? I haven't looked into what the repair will consist of yet, but they are expensive and I'm very strapped for cash right now.
Any other advice for a novice? I've dropped some $3000 on car repairs in the past month and just don't have any more to spend, so I'm trying to learn enough to get by.
