I have a 2008 Q56 29,000 miles. On Dec 8, 2011 I was taking my kids (8 and 1) to the doctor and the service engine light came on. Almost immediately the odometers went to zero and the whole dashboard flashed random lights. (4 wheel drive, no key, cruise control, hazzard light etc.) Before I had a chance to pull over the steering column locked and I had no brakes. I screamed at my kids to get ready for an accident. I ended up coasting to a stop 18 inches from hitting a tree head on. I called roadside assistance and a toll truck was sent. Because the steering column was locked the car had to be dragged onto the flatbed. As was asked to meet with the mechanic at the dealership that evening. He informed me that I had a "catastrophic electrical event" and over 50 codes appeared when my car with hooked up to the computer. I was called from corporate headquarters in TN regarding my experience because the dealership was having problems understanding some of the codes. I was asked again to repeat the story. The dealership has had my car for 40 days. They tell me that a specialist was sent to drive my car (a whole 50 miles) and the event can not be duplicated and they want me to pick it up WITHOUT CHANGING A THING. I could not steer the car (column locked) or stop and by the luck of God my children and myself were not seriously hurt. I read in a thread from last year this same event happened to another women. Are any of you experiencing problems ? This is just a very short version of all that happened.
