Hi,
I bought a 2010 Qx56 over the summer. I bought it over the 60,000 mile mark but bought an extended warranty from Infiniti.

I have noticed something odd when it rains. The first time I noticed a water noise after turning my car on (after it sat in the rain). It was a swishing noise (think: water in a bottle sound) underneath by my feet. Since then, I have had water dripping by the ceiling when it rains. Over my head and to the left of the sunroof. Last night, the kids noticed water dripping from the area where the TV is stored.

Based on some searches online, I am guessing that the sunroof seal is not done right and it's leaking. Has anyone dealt with this and had coverage with the extended warranty? Thanks.

I think I read there is a drain tube or drain channel that passes water down the side and out the bottom of the car. if this get clogged up with debris, it could cause issues, such as the ones you may be experiencing.
maybe an upholstery shop or a shop that installs moon roofs, etc would be able to locate this issue....

Just trying to help. :o

Thank you. We'll see what the dealer says next week. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks.

When I purchased my 2011 QX56 new, a very good salesman noticed a pinched sunroof seal before my signing the contract. He replaced it new with no costs. This may also be the issue with yours. Probably a manufacturer defect in the manufacture of the sunroof seals.

It would be nice to know 'where' the drain tube or drain channel entrance is at so as to be able to blow air through it from time to time with an air compressor. I'll poke around on a ladder and check if it's visible from inside the sunroof cavity.

I took it in. I probably won't explain this well, but there are tubes that lead from the top of the sunroof to somewhere else (maybe outside the car, I assume). The tubes act as a 'gutter' like you would have on your home. When it rains or things fall on the car by the sunroof, it funnels down the tubes. Usually, if it rains, rain goes down the tubes w/out problem. In my case, the tubes were clogged up with 'stuff' (debris from outside, maybe leaves from trees...). They had to clean out the tubes to get it to stop. It wasn't covered by the warranty so I did pay out of pocket. I had 2 other things done (tightening of my window and oil change). W/all three things it was about $300.
