Anyone figure a way to upgrade the Blue Tooth microphone... The peeps on the receiving end always comment on how bad the blue tooth sounds when I'm speaking to them.

They sound fine to me coming from the bose speakers

i believe there is a tsb on the hands free mic. it involves removing part of the headliner and some parts from the sunroof to remove the mic and replace with a updated unit.

call into infiniti service, give them your vin and see if your car is affected.

Does anyone have the TSB for that? I am experiencing the same issue with mine as well as some echoing. As in, if I am calling someone in the QX, I can hear myself in an echo inside the QX. Also, I have a 2012.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Everyone I talk to comments on it. Hopefully mine can be fixed with the TSB solution. Though, my Q is only a month old, so not sure if it already has the "fix"....I hope not.
Even the sound/voice coming from the person I'm talking to sounds a bit "tinny". The truck I previously had was a Toyota Tundra Limited, and there is a definite sound difference between the two, going both ways, incoming and outgoing. I would not have expected that, given the price of the Q.

I spoke with the dealer on Friday... said the only bulletin was for the M-series and not the QX. Asked him if the mic for the M would fit the QX, he said "it's to big for the QX" ???!!!??!! tooo big, how's that possible??

CFCharger... I'll mention that bulletin u listed and see if they change their tune about the fix

@rough,

take your VIN and the TSB number cfc listed, ITB12-063c, and head over to the stealer or simply call and speak to the service. as you can see the model q you have is listed so if one shop is ignorant to this, call another infiniti shop.

So, it appears the TSB fix does not include the 2013 QX's. Am I to assume this has already been addressed in the 2013's? Wow, that sucks....cause it still sucks, if so.

would seem to suggest they found this "issue" in "some" cars and had it corrected towards the end of the 12 run so its possible you have the updated mic and software.

So, if they "fixed" the issue in the 2013's, I can't imagine how bad it was before they fixed it! Holy Cow!!!

well in all fairness i don't have any issues with the in car mic and ive a 2012 born in late fall 2011 so its a mid year ish model.

i use an android phone and have had 3 android phones (all htc) with arguably the same bluetooth stack and ive not had any complaints from callers, so although there are clearly issues, not everyone is experiencing them.. ;)

Same experience here. It's a 2012 born Dec of 2011. No issues with 5 Android phones.

Thanks for the TSB Info!

Just wanted to say thanks for the TSB info regarding the poor sound quality of the handsfree phone in my 2011 QX56. I have received numerous complaints about the sound quality of hands free calls originating from the QX. I thought I would just have to live with this issue until I saw this post. Made an appointment at my local dealer and they have ordered the parts for the fix.

Thanks again!:)

I took the QX to the dealer, and they said they'd fix it... u know what they did??!!! They adjusted the sound level??!!!!??!!! WTF!!! I said you're kidding me right.. I thought u were to replace the mic... they said... see if it helps, if it doesn't let us know and we'll order one.

Did I stutter when I called about the TSB or when I was talking to the service rep?? Stupid thing still sounds tin canish... and they had the QX for 8hrs!

unacceptable for sure. i have had to do a tsb on my armada (the fuel sender recall) and i walked in with the tsb printed and made sure they follow the directions from NNA.

i know the shop was trying to troubleshoot, but golly man 8 hrs?

hopefully after they really fix it , your issue will be gone. thing is they get paid a flat fee for warranty/recall/tsb work and its not a money maker for them so they tend to not be concerned with such tasks.

i should call someone and ask them if i sound tinny. ive not had anyone suggest i do but never know...

Has anyone had the bulletin fix installed and does it correct the problem? Any noted differences?

I took my car in, (2011 QX56) and this bulletin did not apply to my VIN number, but the tech did find another bulletin which entailed a software update to the AV (audio/visual) system. I believe it was supposed to enhance the audio. Unfortunately, I am unable to report any differences or improvements on making or receiving calls via blue-tooth.

I had the same microphone issue too. It didn't change until I switched my cell phone from a htc hero to an iPhone. (Not trying to plug iPhones). But, the dealer reprogrammed it with some kind of update (in 2012) and the navigation problem in 5/13. ( which I'm still having problems with). When I hit HOME it freezes and takes 30 to 45 seconds before the screen will advance to the next page.
