Hello
Hoping someone can lend some assistance why my 2000 Infiniti I30 battery wont stay charged. New battery and new alternator from Rock Auto. Mechanic says the alternator is good but the battery is not getting a charge. I think something is draining the battery when the car is off.

Help!
Jeff

Check for parasitic battery drain

Start by measuring the parasitic current draw from the battery while everything is shut off (there are many YouTube explaining how). And a great fast way is with a clamp on ammeter, so you don't have to disconnect your battery cable and lose your radio presets. I use a Tenma 72-6614 meter on the 40A scale (very accurate tho expensive. I have seen similar meters with the same 40A scale on Amazon for $40).

My I35 has a parasitic draw of 0.06A (60 mA).
