Hi All,

First post here and loving my 2012 QX.

This one has all the options (each, fancy leather, big wheels, rear tv screens, etc) and is supposed to have the adaptive headlights. Except it doesn’t. No headlight pivot, no on/off switch by left knee controls. Build date is 9/11.

My understanding was that this feature is part of the tech package, which my truck has (all the safety nannies and adaptive cruise control, etc).

Was this ever a stand alone option in 2012? And ideas why the omission?

Thanks very much, Ed

yes you have the feature. the feature was made automatic on later models. ive a 2012 and i have all options as well.

Hi, thanks for your response!

Mine doesn’t have the on/off “AFS” switch in the panel by your left knee (mirror controls, power to the tailgate..) Do you have the on/ off switch?

Thanks!

... Do you have the on/ off switch?
I also have the Adaptive Front lighting System on my 9/11 2012... and have neither the on/off switch nor headlight aiming control (axis adjustment) switch at the left panel. My lights "bounce" at start up to test the system and I can see them move when I'm driving and turning the steering wheel.

You probably already looked through the Owner's Manual, but on pg 2-18 there is reference to an "AFS" indicator light in the gauge cluster that will blink if the system isn't working right. Pg 2-40 shows the aiming control and Pg 2-41 has the AFS operational parameters.

^^^^^^^^ excellent post.

also, if you are on an uphill and stopped in front of a car or something that shows the HI "cut" beam form the headlamps, you can see them fluctuating up and down to adjust to the level the car is in.

I think the OP is asking about the headlights moving side to side as you turn etc. Not up and down for height.

the question has been answered. the OP has the auto leveling headlamps. infiniti made a design change that made them automatic.

You guys are the best! Thank you very much for helping a newb who has added no value to the forum (yet, I hope).

After reading Mambro’s post with the excellent link and reference pages to the owner’s manual, I had my wife turn the steering wheel clockwise (in the garage running, BUT, in DRIVE not Park like I had tried in the past), I clearly (ha) watched the right beam move with the wheel. My bad was not knowing the transmission had to be in Drive, not Park or Reverse to enjoy (or test) this feature.

Brilliant (ha) system. Still, I don’t know why I don’t have the manual leveling control or AFS switch (as referenced in the owners manual), but happy to know I have a functional, not fictional, AFS.

Thanks again, Ed

you dont have the control as the automatic mode is much more preferred. its one less thing to worry about. the mechanical switch is an old style and most cars new have this option automatic.
