Have had the car since '95 with 22K never a problem with normal maintenance; now 175k. Today it cranked and cranked but would not start or fire -just cranked .
I'm suspecting something electrical , because yesterday while underway the radio was acting up but eventually cleared after it warmed up . it's been very humid lately, but good dry weather is coming tomorrow, So I'm hopeful it will have an effect on the car that has never failed for 18 years.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or how to rule out some things. Like is the sound of the fuel pump audible if I lie under the car while some one turns the key on?
does the car have to be running to read codes , because I'll borrow a code reader if it helps with the diagnosis. Other wise I'll have to tow it into a money laundering service because I don't have a relationship with a mechanic - just inspections and fast moving parts like tires , batteries, etc.
