My 2011 QX56 is coming up on 30,000 miles and I called the local dealer about getting the 30,000 mile service. He told me what it included and quoted me $800 for the service.

This seems excessive and I'm not at all a fan of this dealer's service department. I've caught them in the past charging me for little things like tire rotation that never happened and based on that I stopped using them for oil changes as I figured if they'll lie to me about rotating the tires then they'll lie to me about changing the oil.

There's no other dealership I can use locally that is Infiniti.

Is it a bad idea to skip the 30,000 mile service or can I have it done somewhere else? Is there a chance of voiding the warranty if it's not done or done by an independent shop?

I attached the 30K service pdf from the manual. My local dealer did the schedule 1 & 2 and the optional premium upgrade service items for $500 total. However, they started at $800 for only the schedule 1 & 2 items and I negotiated a better deal. If you look at schedule 1 & 2 most of the items are inspect only so $800 is a huge rip off. If you have four wheel drive you should replace the front and rear diff oil as well as the transfer case oil. I would not skip this service. However, I waited until 40K to do mine. Anything after that and the dealer may start telling you your warranty is in jeopardy like my dealer did. Also, you should get the major service done at an Infinity dealer. If you get the work done elsewhere you give the dealer another "out" on any potential warranty items that may come up.

How did u get them to reduce the cost by $300 for that service??

ok, so if I read this right. They want how much for the standard schedule 1 & 2? That looks to be tire rotations, oil change, air filter (order a K&N and save yourself the money), cabin air filter (doesn't apply to all trim levels) and brake fluid change? - the brake fluid change is nuts at 30K?

all qx's should have a cabin filter. not all have ACCS system though.

sav a few bucks and change the air and cabin filters yourself.

Ah, maybe that's the difference I know my wife's JX has the ACCS - didn't realize that all had a cabin filter. Is there a posting on here on how to change that?

I chased down the service manual from here:

Gotta be a member than I paid $12.95 for some subscription and finally downloaded the service manual. Well worth the $12.95 in my opinion. In order to change the filter you'll want the service manual because there are some clips you don't want to break and an airbag sensor you have to move. Sounds complicated but it's not. Once you do it you'll see it's really nothing.

Punisher... that link didn't work. Can u double check it (I think it's because the link appears abbreviated)

still didn't work and there was no spaces in my URL when I copy/paste

ok, so I joined the inifinithelp.net site, but it looks like the cabin filter manuals are all pre 2010 (old body style)

dont copy and paste. just type in what i posted and you will get in.

what help do you need with the cabin filter? its super easy.

1. remove the bottom finisher that has the foot lamp attached
2. open glove door and remove the screws around the box
3. there are some clips. pull down a bit to pull the box form the clips. BOOM air filter. :D
