I am new to the forum but I need some help. Purchased a new QX56 yesterday and have been trying to rip dvds to a jump drive and tried 3 different jump drives and several different file formats and none of them work. Keeps saying unplayable file. Tried some pics (jpg) also and they wont work either. Someone please help

there is a thread on this on this page or the next. you need to encode in divx or asf and the max resolution is different for each. in your operators manual it will tell you the formats and encoding.

I have several youtube videos, commercial videos and other files on a thumb drive that all play nicely.

I'm thinking there is a problem and we may have to go back to dealership. I tried 4 different jump drives with different formats of videos and also tried some pics on all 4. Nothing works and it keeps on saying unplayable file.

what program are you using to encode the files for playback in the Q? what bit rate and wrapper (asf, Divix, etc) are you using?

i doubt its the car, but need to know the above to see if we are on the same page.

I think I also read the drive needs to be FAT16 or 32 formatted. NTFS is a default a lot these days. Just another something to consider.

there is also a size limitation. I believe 4gb, so stay under that. I have can vouch for divx working just fine.
