Yesterday the sound quit working in the qx56. No sound from radio or xm. From the screen no options to choose audio or volume/ beebs settings. Also phone bluetooth links up however no sound from calls.

What we have checked:

*Both 15A fuses for Bose Amp - driver side bottom fuse panel
*The 15A Audio fuse in the larger engine compartment passenger side fuse panel
*The smaller fuse panel in the engine compartment passenger side - no audio type fuse
*The smaller fuse panel in the engine compartment driver side - no audio type fuse

Looking for some solutions here??

What are the fuse switches? Do we need to check the amp itself?

Please help, thanks in advance!

aaah, weirdly enough, my wife just called and told me the radio/phone etc stopped working in our car today. (2011 qx for me)

edit -- ok got home and checked. radio/etc appears to work -- no sound. speaker test in menu appears to work, no sound. seems like amp is dead or something. checked fuses under dash and in engine compartment, they're good. pulled battery cable for a few min and put back on, no change. wonder if there is another fuse on the amp? ugh. just got the car back after 2 months in the shop for a new engine...and at 100,100 miles so out of warranty.

edit 2 -- ok...so this is weird. i'm sitting around thinking "amps don't usually just die instantly for no reason" unless there is a power surge or something, and you can tell when they start to go bad because the levels get janky or whatever (usually). no reason for a wire to have come loose. i'd already tried toggling bluetooth on and off (thinking that might be at the root), disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes again, etc.

the other clue i had was that the mic didn't seem to work for the nav -- it wasn't hearing my commands. So the AV controller reads "ok" on the self check, and it's clearly not just the amp.

well let's see if the car is throwing any codes. so i go into the car with my obdii thing and the literal instant my phone connects to it via bluetooth -- i mean "literal" in the literal sense not the teenager sense -- bam...sound comes back on. mic works again. turn car off and on a few times -- keeps working. I think something got f'd up related to bluetooth when my wife was in the car and it was stuck. not sure how that relates to the OBDii connecting to my phone, but its the best i have to explain it. Can't explain how that happened, but it happened.

op,

can you see the tire pressure? petrol range? HVAC? map data?

what happens if you press the phone button or the icon that looks like someone speaking on the steering wheel?

yes check codes at the obd port.

had any aftermarket work done to the car? alarm? additional audio equipment?

anything else not working?

hold settings and turn the volume knob one direction or the other for a bit with the radio off.

this will put you in the diagnostic menu. From there you can check the status of the AV controller (should be 'green'). Given that you've lost volume options and settings, the AV controller might be the culprit.

when you exit the menu the system will reboot, black screen for a bit.

Hey OP did you ever get a diagnosis or solution?
