My wife and I went downtown today. We went last year prior to buying our qx and honestly we werent even in the market for a new car at that time. New job, new requirements. Happens fast.
I'm a salesman ok but I don't think my wife ever truly bought into what I was selling her on the qx until today. The beauty of one of these auto shows is you can literally sit in nearly every make and model of vehicle in one area.
We looked at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Toyota, Ford, Lincoln, Jeep, Land Rover (Range Rover was locked), Acura and of course Infiniti. We didn't bother with Ford or any of the GM brands (been there done that).
I didn't say anything to her as I just let her make her comments on each one as we came upon them. Mind you we have had our QX since April. As we were getting into our qx for the drive home she looks at me and says (man I love this!!) "You were right. We bought without a doubt the best vehicle for us without a doubt for the money. Nothing else is even remotely close."
That pretty much sums up my thoughts as well and it was refreshing to have the confirmation of such all day today. Like I've said on here numerous times we dealt with a LOT of buyer's remorse. This is the first non GM vehicle I have ever owned. Half of my neighborhood are GM or Ford executives. My next door neighbor is the lead designer for the Volt. Two doors down is the lead marketing manager of the Camaro. It goes on and on. I get lots of grief about the Infiniti and I have quickly adapted my reply to them. I confirmed it again today. The 2013 Tahoe was a great buy at 30k in 2008. 2013 its 60k and there is nominal differences. Very nominal. 30k worth? Not even close. We have the base qx and it is better than anything we have ever owned. Period.
Maybe my wife and I are just odd balls when it comes to vehicles. We like big vehicles. We don't have any kids and we have the qx and a 3/4 ton crew cab diesel pickup. When buyers look at mid size suv's for fuel economy and price I see +3mpg and -8k price for major losses in performance, luxury, space, etc.
Anyways just thought I would share our experience today. It was a great time. If any of you guys are near one of these shows I would encourage you to go. Lots of cool concept vehicles and technology.
Note: I will be highly interested in the 2013 Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine coming out in 2 weeks. Reported 30 mpg. Now that would make one helluva work vehicle. Saw it today too but no pricing or spec info.
