The subject line of this post pretty much says it all.

After seeing preview pix of the 2011 QX56 I went down to my dealer on the first day it was available (July 1), test drove the vehicle and ended up ordering one with more options than the dealer demo. Order was placed around July 9, estimated build date is this month, and vehicle arrival date is in September.

I'm planning to trade in a 2009 Cadillac Escalade hybrid with ~25k miles on it when the QX56 arrives.

A cursory glance at the good/bad between both vehicles is what pretty much sold me on getting the QX56:

- Quieter and smoother ride in the QX (I test drove one with a second row bench seat and theater package)
- Headroom in 3rd row is a little shorter in the QX than the Escalade but not by much, though the 3rd row in the QX reclines
- I expect to take a mileage hit on the QX because it obviously consumes more (and higher grade) gas than the Escalade, but that may be offset by lower monthly payments (I'm leasing the QX vs financing the Escalade) and lower insurance premiums (the Escalade is the number one most stolen vehicle in the US)

The biggest factor, though, was service. Plain and simple, GM's service sucks here. The service and parts reps are courteous but there's no loaner offered unless the vehicle is left overnight (though it has a shuttle) and recently replacing a part (under warranty) took over two months to get the part in (and it's still the wrong color).

I'm counting the days until the end of September, by which time I hope to have the QX. 54 days and counting... but like Tom Petty sang, "the waiting is the hardest part"!

I feel your pain on the waiting. Though ours is a 2010 model, it took 2 weeks from signing papers to taking delivery due to it coming from an out of state dealer. At least the dealer gave us a loaner just waiting for the truck to come in.

Yes, that's an excellent benefit.

I also got a loaner while waiting for my QX to arrive.

I haven't asked about a loaner but then again I still have the other vehicle that I'll be trading in. Earlier this month I found out that due to the Nissan plant closing for two weeks in August, my QX is now delayed until October. If there are any more delays I may consider just signing the papers, trading in the Escalade and seeing if I can get a loaner... but I'll have to play it by ear.

Yes, you should definitely talk to your dealer to see if this is an option.

Did you get the 2011 QX56 with all 3 packages? Deluxe Touring, Technology and Theater package? Also, how much are you paying on your lease? I'm planning on leasing a new 2011 QX56 soon. What's your mpg on the 2011 QX56?

I got the 4WD with all 3 packages plus the second row bench seat (no-cost option). So far I've gotten around 11 MPG but that includes one day where I was stuck in heavy traffic for some 3-4 miles, which dropped the mileage to 8 MPG. The vehicle is EPA rated at 14/20 but realistically I think I'll get somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.

The mpg is very low, I was hoping for 15mpg on the 2011 QX56. I read some people are getting 18 mpg, which is amazing but hard to believe.

I don't think 18mpg is unrealistic if you're doing mostly unrestricted (free-flow traffic) freeway driving. Traffic here tends to be among the worst in the U.S., with it being mostly stop-go traffic (25-30 mph). Also note that the highest freeway speed limit here is 60 mph but normal freeway speed limits range between 50-55 mph depending on which freeway you're driving.

Do you think leasing the 2011 QX56 with Deluxe Touring, Technology & Theater package for $984 a month with $0 down cost too much? This price doesn't include the taxes and bank fee.

if your buying this vehicle for gas milage your buying the wrong vehicle all v8 will not get u 20mpg...but what a nice ride...my Lincoln Blackwood gets 13 in town.and my Titan used to get 15...its not about gas milage...but what a nice ride..
