Hello everyone, as you can probably tell I'm new to the forum. I'm looking for some help in regard to the new QX56. I posted this on the NICO forums as well.

In any case...

I'm a retired NFL lineman and as you can guess I'm not small. At 6'5" and 325lbs I always have a hard time finding a vehicle that is the right size for me. My issue isn't the legroom (I have a 31" inseam). However all of my height is from the hips up (I guess that's one of the reasons I was able to make a living pushing 300lb men around a a grass field for 15 years) and so headroom is at a super premium. Normally I have to delete the sunroof to have enough room.

I've typically owned full sized pickups, mostly Dodge Ram 2500s. However I'm looking for a luxury SUV, and obviously the new QX56 more than qualifies.

My question is for anyone who has purchased one, or has spend any time in the driver's seat of one. What's the headroom like? Is is roomy? I live in Boise, Idaho and there isn't an Infiniti dealer in town so I will have to fly to Portland, Seattle, or (God help me) Salt Lake City to find one and I"d really like to have a good idea about the vechile before I buy one.

I have to say that I REALLY like the styling of the new sled. I know it's somewhat questionable in many minds, but it looks how a luxury SUV should look, chocolate and vanilla I guess.

Thanks to eveyone for any/all information!

I'm 6'4" 315 and love it. Plenty of head room even with the few inches lost from the moon roof. I wish the seat went back maybe 4 more inches but it is fine. For me it was important to be able to have my seat fully back yet still allow my kids to sit behind me and not be squished. Take the time to go out to a dealer and try it out. I know it is far but you should fit just fine. Call the dealer ahead and explain to them your situation and see if they have one as a courtesy vehicle that you can really test drive.
My test drive was about 30 minutes. No kidding. They have a QX56 as a courtesy vehicle so I had some reservations about the size, wether it would fit in the garage etc... so we litteraly drove it forever, tried it out in the garage at home, drove local roads, freeways etc... It is a great vehicle.

The specs show 40.2" headroom for the Ram and 39.9" for the QX. Most likely you would not notice that small of a difference.

You may want to checkout the Nissan Armada, if you want to see something with similar interior dimensions.

I am 6'2" and while headroom is not an issue when seated, getting into my QX56 requires tilting my head to the outside as I climb into the driver's seat. I figure that this is due to the "chopped" roof look. Not enough of an issue to change my opinion of the vehicle but makes me wonder what this means for those of taller stature.

It looks like we need to make a surprise trip down to San Diego for a wedding (I'm guessing the rabbit didn't make it) and I'm going to take one for a test drive while there. Hopefully I'll be driving home in a new ride!

I talked to a dealer in Portland and he told me that they 3-4 Portland Trailblazers already running around town in new QX56's. I didn't ask for a player(s) name(s) and he didn't offer any, but I'm hoping it wasn't just shooting guards buying the new sleds!

In any case, thanks for the info and if I do pick one up I'll be sure to post some pictures. As long as I'm down there I may need to look for some nice rims too...this trip may get REAL expensive. Good thing I bought the wife a new ragtop last month!

+ 1 I occaisionally forget thinking I can basically just "walk into" the vehicle to only be reminded by the top of the door opening with the impact to the top of my head LOL. I am 6'4". Plenty of head room inside however.

Hello all. New to the forum. just got me new 2011 QX last week and love it. I'm 6-4 250. Roomy enough but I would love to be able to straighten my leggs. Overall the interior is amazing.

6-2 with at 32" inseam and I have more than enough room. Even though I can throw my right butt check up on the drivers seat, I step up on the running board with my left leg, grab the interior grab handle with my right hand and swing into the seat to keep from creasing the leather. And I haven't even put a knot on my head........yet.
