In a couple more months I will be pulling my front bumper off and pulling my headlights apart. The plan is to upgrade my OEM ballasts from 35W to 55W high power ballasts. Then pulling my headlights apart and upgrading my HID lenses to higher quality to have clearer resolution/brightness.

Curious if anyone would be interested in step by step pictures or small video clips as I go through the tear down/install.

Absolutely! I love how to videos!!!!
Can't wait to see your upgrade project!!

Definitely will like to see a video but as Marc said, model and year will be appreciated.
I'm guessing you do a lot of night driving ? I find the light output on my 11 QX56 at night is quite adequate.Anymore light throw, higher and or brighter and I'm afraid oncoming drivers are going to suffer.
This 'thing' is huge and tall.
Looking forward to the video..👍

Having driven new cars with LED head lights the 2011 QX is far from adequate even with 6000k bulbs. I don't use High beams. Having used 55w HID with 8000k bulbs it has much wider and further throw. This is tge problem with the factory lenses and the peuny 35w OEM HID system. Having had the opportunity to speak with a company, I have been able to determine the HID lenses are an area that Infinity cheapened out on causing the refraction ability to be foggy. So I will be pulling the factory lenses apart and install upgraded lenses and sealing the headlights back like factory.

It's all good.
When it comes to car headlights,I've done my fair share of research, retrofits and read everything Daniel Stern will have to say about lights.
I'm a professional driver and used to drive about 2hrs to work, that's one way, from the country side back roads to the city, night and day.
Before the LED headlights came(newer accords),which is a bit improvement, the general consensus was that, the HID's in Acura TSX and Honda S2000 were the best and yes,I tried them all.
Remember, it all comes down to design of the light, cut off etc etc and after that, your perception. You mentioned 6000k and 8000k bulbs and that's where I came to a screeching halt.
The believe and proven test is that after 4300k,4500k any higher up and the human mind starts creating the illusion that it's brighter and in fact it's not.
If you think the QX headlights are not up to par,you going to have to redesign and or take it apart and modify the actual headlights.
Higher wattage ballast will give you some brightness but the 'flaw' in design still stays.Note that we are not just looking for brightness...
Anyways, let's save this bluh bluh for another time,I didn't mean to go on like this or fire up an argument, just wanted to share some light on this subject.
Do your thing and if it's a much better improvement,I'm all in.
Is this something you plan on doing now or its a summer project ?
