Hi Everyone, just wanted to get some inputs into buying a used 2011 or '12 QX56 under 30k miles. Buying sometime by the end of summer. Do you think that used prices will drop as the QX80 renaming gets closer and more used '13's possibly come into the market? From what I've seen used prices on these years are actually up a little bit since end of 2012.

I don't think the renaming of the QX will make much of a difference. You're right as far as the prices holding pretty firm. I was looking (since March of 2012) for a used QX and just recently bought one. It's Liquid Platinum and has 23,700 miles. It's still under basic factory warranty until 10/28/2014 (or 60,000 miles), and has the Wheel/Tire package, the Theater package and the Deluxe Touring package. I paid $47,400 for it, but had to pay an additional $1,350 to have it transported to me.

I looked at a lot of QXs, and even with the transport charge, this was a great deal. I hope this helps you in your search.

Damn, has pricing actually gone up on the used models? I bought my mint condition Infiniti QX56 4WD Liquid Platinum, 22" Tire & Wheel pkg, Deluxe Touring pkg, Technology pkg with 30k miles last year for $43,900.

Is yours salvaged or something? Or, did you buy it from a crackhead that needed money for their next hit? Because you got an unbelievable deal! I've never seen one for as cheap as you got yours with every package (except theater; unless I'm missing something) and low mileage. Never. Look on eBay and Autotrader for yourself. There are none to be had any where near your price. Check KBB; Yours is worth $56,300K right now retail, $53,500 private party, and $50,700 trade-in. And those prices are without the Theater package. You really scored! Where did you buy yours at?

It's not salvaged, has a clean car fax report and has every option including theater. It was a lease return and I'm the second owner. The original owner traded it in at the end of the lease at a Mercedes Dealer and I snatched it up before they could even clean it or put it on the lot. They said they try to get rid of all non-Mercedes trade-ins asap. I don't think the Mercedes dealer knew what they had and didn't price it properly. Mercedes acted like Infiniti was garbage and they were just happy to get rid of it.

I checked it out with the Infiniti dealer down the street where it was originally leased and they had all the records on it and everything checked out. They were shocked when I told them what I paid for it. I actually put it up on Craigslist for $55k to test the market and one aggressive buyer kept calling and wanted to buy it asap and would not stop calling. I had to tell him it was sold just to get him to stop calling. Still I thought it was a fluke because only one person wanted to buy it. I guess I got the deal of a lifetime on this and now after reading this it seems the value is real and not perceived.

MBZ acted like Infiniti was garbage? Ha! After the warranty runs out on a Mercedes (and I've owned three [2004 E350, 2007 E350 & 2010 E350]), you have the perfect definition of garbage. Not to mention that the resale value sucks A$$ too!

You lucky dog you! I got mine from a Mercedes dealership too. I'm still happy with the deal I got. I've been looking for a long time, and it was the best deal I've seen listed (in over a year of searching), so I jumped on it. It has everything I wanted (color, theater, deluxe touring, wheel/tire) except the technology package (which I really wanted) and 4WD. Mine is worth more than I paid too. And, although the margin isn't as great as yours, it's still significant enough that I feel good about it. I paid $47,400, and KBB has it at $55,175 retail, $52,375 private party and $50,150 trade in. :D

I'm not finding deals any like posted on this thread. Is $43,500 okay for a 2011 with 55,000 miles and the theater package? Most I have found are over $50,000.

Might be worth having it transported from Northern California. It has low miles and CPO. I had mine transported from Orlando Florida.

That's only 10 minutes away from me. I may even be able to help negotiate a better deal since this is my home dealer and I get my service work done there. If you buy it I can drive it to you for a fee. I'll make a road trip out of it! :D

I'd jump on that offer elly. I tried negotiating with them when they had it listed higher. They said the best they could do was $47,700. No lower. But, I'm sure it's different when you're there in person.

Interesting that two of the better deals on used QX's are in the SF Bay Area. My guess is there are so many Infiniti dealers in the Bay Area that they are driving the pricing down. I just checked Infiniti's website and there are 6 Infiniti dealers within 30 miles of me. 12 of them within 70 miles of me. Supply vs. demand...

I have to trade in my current vehicle. I will save over $1,700 in taxes. But, I appreciate the offer of a road trip!

Ellykay,
Not sure about Texas, but in MD we have to have 4x4 and the one discussed above is not. It's also 7 passengers. When we were looking for ours, we had a hard time finding the right color/options/8 passenger/4x4/ and the right price. Take your time and don't rush into it. Although it's a beautiful SUV and we're very happy with ours, these cars nowadays are not selling that fast.

We do not have to have a 4WD here, and we are looking for a 7 passenger. I would prefer the 8 passenger, but I have four kids. None of the three want to sit that close to each other. :D

Prices here in Texas seem higher than other places. I check eBay, Autotrader, etc., and I'm not finding any fabulous deals. I can't figure out if they hold their value well or if people like me are just suckers.

Here is the auction price for 11 and 12 2wd 7 passengers. I hope this helps in your decision making process.

So, how do you see a $43,500 sales price for an 11 with almost 60,000 miles and a dealer paid extended bumper to bumper warranty? According to the chart (which is GREAT by the way), wholesale would be $39. So, is $4,500 mark up okay or not okay? I generally buy brand new, so I would appreciate any input. We have chosen not to spend high 40's to low 50's for a used vehicle, but I want a QX.

They hold their value great. You/we are not suckers. The QX has the best residual value than any other luxury full size SUV.

Thanks for that. I got my (nearly fully loaded) 8-passenger QX for less than auction value. Makes me feel even better about my purchase :)

I would say that markup is NOT okay, especially on one with such high mileage. Keep doing what you're doing (searching), and one will eventually pop up. I was going insane searching before I bought mine. There were absolutely no outstanding deals to be had. But I kept diligently running searches 2-3 times a day until the one I linked (further up) popped up. I was actually going to be wiring payment the same day for that one, when I ran across the one I ended up buying. Don't give up. You'll find one sooner or later, as long as you're not in a rush.
