Recent purchase of 2010 QX56. Bought from a local business. Tried using the cruise control. Pushed the on/off button and the corresponding light came on. Then tried to use the set function. Nothing happened,no corresponding message, didn't set the speed. Tried turning the on/off button off and then back on and then the set function. The seller said he would get it fixed. He reported that a brake light needed to be replaced. I picked the vehicle up after the brake light was replaced and tested the cruise control on the way home. It worked. Several hours later I drove the vehicle again and the cruise control function would not work. Same thing with the on/off button registering and not the set function. Seller is a good guy and he says he will get it fixed. I believe him when he said he was able to use the set function several times before I picked it up. Any ideas as to what is going on that I could pass on to the seller??

worth a shot to check for any trouble codes at the obd port.

could be a sensor fault.

Failing Brake Pedal Switch
Failing Speed Sensor

could be a wire harness losing continuity.
a visual inspection needs to be made.

hard to tell over the internet.

I will pass these thoughts along to the seller. He is being very good about the issues that I identify as troublesome.

Thank you. I don't know your role in this forum, but do appreciate your responses to my inquiries. Your knowledge of the vehicle through the years is remarkable.

hey lots of us try to help out when we can. i had 2 armadas and a new qx (2012 - bought new). im not a mechanic, but did stay at a holiday inn express last night. :p

seriously, im just trying to help.

is this seller mechanically inclined? if so does he have the factory service manual? if not, it can be found free online...

The seller has a mechanic. From what I gathered the seller also has several people who are service managers at various dealerships that he consults with and then passes the information along to his mechanic.
I found the owner's service manual on line, but did not know that the factory service manual was also on line and free! I certainly will pass that info along, too.
Holiday Inn express!!:cool::cool:

the factory manual is the cat's pajamas! you get that you got gold-- its the exact same thing the infiniti techs use.

hopeful you will get this sorted quickly, and happy to hear the seller is willing to help so easily.

keep the class updated on your success!

I had this issue recently on a long drive. The cruise was working fine and then I turned it off. About half hour later I pressed Cruise and tried to Set but a faint warning chime came on. The Cruise icon came on in Amber I think. I also tried to turn on dca but that would not work.

I noticed my Backup Collision Intervention icon was turned on but in Amber. Usually it should be green.

I switched off the vehicle completely and then turned it on. The issue did not reoccur. Dealer also did not find any codes that show the error.

I wouldn't mind if the set icon came on in whatever color it wants. Unfortunately, it won't light up at all. Several trips later(corresponding to several attempts to make it work) and still not go...taking it back to the seller tomorrow. I have a feeling these vehicles are subject to gremlins...
But I do enjoy the ride(y)

my 2012 never gave any issues at all. a used car is only as good as its previous owners. hopeful the seller can get you squared so you can start enjoying the car --it really is a great and fun car to derive.
