I cannot get into my 2008 Infiniti QX56. Neither Fob will work and the manual key will not open the door. I believe the battery might be completely dead but I cannot figure out a way to get into the vehicle to open the hood and charge the battery or test it. Anyone have any ideas other than a locksmith or towing it to a dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Mike J.

direct from the 2008 manual :

Mechanical key - The Intelligent Key contains the mechanical key, which can be used in case of a discharged battery. To remove the mechanical key, release the lock knob on the back of the Intelligent Key. To install the mechanical key, firmly insert it into the Intelligent Key until the lock knob returns to the lock position. The mechanical key can be used for operation in the same way as an ordinary key.

the manual key should be able to open the door without the battery - thats its design. its mechanically linked to mechanical door lock.

the other methods are as you suggested - or breaking a window.

Did you ever figure this out? My 2015 just did this today. Police had to get into the car so I could jump the battery. The physical key wouldn’t work in the door. Now that the battery is charged the physical key still doesn’t work.

I had the unfortuante experience of having to get a lock smith to open mine when I locked the keyfob in the car (nto supposed to lock whenn its in there but it did). He broke in through the passengers door frame with one of those inflatable bags and a long rod. You can pry the door open at the top rear corner enough to get a wire in there. The locksmith used a small plastic pry bar, then interserted the bag and inflated. Search "air bag car door unlock kit" on amazon. $40 versus $130 locksmith. He used similar tool and just opened the lock with the long arm tool. Took him less than 5 minutes. Car alarm went off of course. Had to use the fob to lock and unlock the truck to stop as I recall.

I have done it to my kids cars multiple times with just the plastic prybar and bailing wire (or wire fence wire). Chips the paint on the inside corner of the door though.
