I have a 2001 Infiniti I30. The engine will shake at low RPMs when I am stopped at a red light or stop sign. It will also shake when in park with engine on or in neutral. When I speed up it stops shaking. I feel like the car is starving for something. Ive brought it back to the mechanic I bought it from at least 7 times and they cant figure out what is wrong.

Someone please help!!!

Sounds to me like you have a bad motor mount

How many miles are on the car? if close to 100k, when was the spark plugs replaced? What grade of gas are you using?

Telly :D

Service engine light might be catalytic converter or O2 sensor. Happened to my 2000
I30t.

Stephanie, if the motor is running bad, which my 2000 I30 was doing, it could be the ignition coils. These were defective on the 2000 and 2001 model years, and the funny thing is, if you change one, they all start to go bad. They are about $70 per ignition coil, but before you go and buy 6 new ignition coils, I recommend you take it to a trusted mechanic to get a diagnosis first. They can run a voltage and resistance test on each of your coils to determine which one is bad.

I agree with the above..it could be the ignition coils....have the codes read. I have my own reader, it indicated "bank 5 misfire". I had the same problem, one shot coil. so I dumped it out put in a new one and bam! that was it. fixed! I did have to troubleshoot it out a few times, by swapping around coils. Just to either find bank 5, and to make sure it was that exact one reported. its also not hard to do yourself, so dont let the $108/Hour Infin mechanic do it, by testing and examining, and experimenting. therefor costing you 3 hrs, or $300+, plus the $70 for a new coil.

It may be your motor mounts. I just had mine changed a couple of months ago. I had a check engine light and the car ran rough, shook when started and just an overall bad ride. After they were changed, check engine light went off and everything else improved dramatically.

Replace both motor mounts.the torque on the engine at high speed steadies the engine at low speed or stopped you'll be shaken all over. The crankshaft sensor may need a replacement as well after that
