2000 i30 - camshaft position sensor error code

Hi,

I have a p0340 error code reading which points to the camshaft position sensor (CMP/PHASE) issue.

I replaced it with a part i bought from oreilly auto parts ($73 after tax).

while replacing it, i notice the area where you connect the harness from the car to the sensor (electrical connection for the sensor) was wet.

I erased the code with a scanner and after a day of driving the code is back.

disconnect the harness and see it is kind of damp in that area.

i wonder if the AC (metalic tube kind of above it) could be a culprit in dripping water into the harness when i use the AC.

I'm thinking of taping the connection area to prevent it from getting wet.

car symptoms:
1. crank but won't start at times, try again and it will
2. doesn't seem to have power to accelerate
3. car seems to be jerky after startup sometimes, won't accellerate

Has anyone seen this before?
