My Bose stereo system has a cd player, a radio and a tape player. I like the quality of the music very much but now I have a problem with the volume control. When I try to turn the volume down, it turns out to be loud or vice versa. Since it is an old car and I do not want to invest much money on it so I am looking for a way to fix the volume control. I ever thought about replace the stereo system with something I can get from amazon but seems the replacements available are smaller. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem and have done some reading on it. I found two possible fixes:
1. Spray an electronic contact cleaner into the space between the volume control and the stereo face. I just tried this yesterday but haven't really tested it out yet.
2. There may be a problem with the contacts themselves. I read you need to take the face of the stereo off the unit and re-solder the contacts. I haven't tried this yet, not have I ever done anything like this...so I have no idea how easy, hard or successful it would be.
