1997 I30 shift to neutral during heavy braking.

My 1997 I30 shifts to neutral when I brake heavily for a stop and remains in neutral until the rpm is increased to 1500 or so. After that everything is fine. Has anyone ever ran into this problem before.

Check your ATF level. I betcha it's a quart or two low... I had a Camry that did that same thing.

When coming to a hard stop (like a highway exit ramp) the fluid would rush to the front of the pan and the pump intake would suck air and then take a little while to reset itself and work out the air bubbles.
