100k tune up question

I'm getting ready to do a major tune up and wanted to know if I should replace the coils in addition to the spark plugs? Any advice?

I'd say no, they should last at least 200k and they are pricey ($50-60/ea). They don't go all at once, usually it'll start with a misfire or three. And if you are doing this yourself, a coil pack is a quick fix. I'd suggest an ODB code reader for any higher mileage car - $15ish on Amazon - and you can pinpoint the issue immediately.

Thanks for the detailed info. Much appreciated. One last question: Since I have to remove the intake manifold, do you suggest replacing the gasket?

I'll add the ODB reader to the list of things I'm ordering from Amazon for the job.
