I just purchased my 08 QX in Serengeti Sand about 3 weeks ago for my wife and we are absolutely happy with the truck. It had a few slight problems with it, but overall the truck was in near showroom condition. The 3 problems I've had thus far:
1. Rear Sonar: Before purchasing the vehicle, I noticed the rear sonar light was on and would not turn off. From reading these forums, I knew that meant that something was wrong with this system. I told the dealer about it and told him that we'd need to negotiate for this problem.
2. Recalls: 1 for brake pin and other for fuel pump.
3. DVD Player would not play DVD's. Dealer I purchased it from agreed that it was not working. After finding out that a new DVD Player cost $1500.00 (yes, the decimal is in the right place; this is the price for the player only), I negotiated further with the dealer.
The truck booked at $29,000.00 and got them to settle for $22,000.00 so I was happy with the purchase, especially since the rest of the truck nearly looked unused - as if only 1 person was ever in it, even though the drivers seat looked new as the day it was first driven off the lot.
This is how I fixed the issues above:
1. I got the replacement sonar speaker from Sewell Infiniti for $46.00. Part # is 25640-7S200. Received it 2 days later, installed it, light went off and now the sonar worked they way it should.
2. Took the truck to my local Infiniti dealer and recalls were performed in 1 day. They gave us a brand new G37 to get us around while the truck was fixed. I know they give loaner cars, but the one we got only had 37 miles on it. It was nice, but definitely too small for us.
3. Priced DVD Player at $1500.00 and was dreading getting it. Talked to my local dealer (original price quoted was from another dealer) and they mentioned that they have a program where they can swap the old one and put in a refurbished unit. I thought it would be half of the price above. Once the dealer called and found out what the price was, he called me and said you're not going to believe how much it is. At this point I was already thinking it was gonna be like $800 to $900 to fix. When he told me $380.00 I was very happy. And when he told me that was $380.00 with labor, I nearly passed out. My invoice states the player was $175.00 and the labor was $190.50.
The only thing I am yet to get done is program my new remote. I've tried using steps found online, but I cannot get the truck to go into programming mode so I can link the new remote to the truck.
