04 vs 06 vs 08 (and intro)

Morning and happy new year!

I am a diehard forum guy, active on several because of the trucks/cars that I own or have owned.

Currently I own an '04 Range Rover with 146k and started shopping for a replacement. I purchase used and keep them for about 2 to 3 years because I drive 30k on average per year. As I began to shop I came across the QX56 and found this forum (along with two others, but this seems to be the most active).

As a hunter, I drive off road at least once every 5 to 6 weeks and I want an SUV not a pickup. I've owned 5 Tahoes, 2 Range Rovers and the Excursion (simply too large) over the past 20 years.

In addition to the QX56, I've looked at the '07 MB GL320 and the '07 Range Rover. I've tried to do a lot of research on the QX56 (specifically '06 changes from '05) to find out what the differences are per year.

I have found two QX56 4wd that look good. One is an '05 and one is an '06. The '06 has lower miles and is one-owner, but has the bench second row seat.

Can someone direct me to a site or provide me with information on the differences between the '05 and the '06?

I find Edmunds helpful. They have an overview page for every car model. Scroll down to the "Used Infiniti QX56 Models" section.

You can also checkout the full review for each model year. They always start with a "what's new" section. It might not be as detailed as you're looking for, but it's a start.

there is no significant difference between the 05 and 06. there are more differences between 04-06 than 05-06.

the 06 sounds like the better deal. the bench can be swapped out for a seat, you just need to find the same color.

search for armadas from 05-06 as well since they both were made on the same assembly line and the same plant in Alabama.

You can also swap the bench seat for the captains chairs if that's what you want. When I looked into it, I saw a lot more people looking for the bench than captain's chairs. Depending on your patience and luck, this might be an option if you get the 2006.
