remote start question

I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe. When I push the lock button on the remote, the lights flash, the cars beeps but the locks do not lock. If the car is locked and I press the remote, the doors do not unlock. The only way to lock and unlock the car is to insert the key into the drivers side...

I recently purchased a 2010 QX56 with less than 20k miles, and is loaded so it seems. Even has a dvd player and wireless headphones with remote! I was told by someone that it also has remote start, but I don't know how to use it if it does...there are only 4 buttons on the key fob....door lock...
