I have 15K mi on my vehicle and it's time to change the cabin air filter. I have the shop manual, and it looks straight forward. However, the dealership is convinced that I am going to break off some plastic clips that are part of the dash in the process, causing expensive damage. Anyone tried this yet? Thanks.

Update: I finished the job, and it was easy. After removing the six screws that hold in the glove box, some six or so plastic clips have to be pulled out as you pull back on the glove box to remove it. Unhook the battery, because you have to unplug the air bag sensor in the process.

Filter replace

This is good information. Thank you for posting.

Where did you get your shop manuals? Infiniti-Nissan dealer?
I have a 2011 model and I appreciate the info
Thanks

Need help changing cabin air filter 2011 qx56

Just attempted to change it myself. I removed the glove box and now need to remove a bunch of screws. Where is the air bag sensor and how do i unplug it. Can i proceed without unplugging it? Does anyone have a copy of the service manual? I would like to read the manual on how to change the cabin air filter. Thanks.

2012 qx cabin filter part #?

Hey guys. I finally got around to changing my cabin filter and air filter today. The cabin filter I got from the dealer doesn't have the foam gasket around the top of the filter like the one I removed from the qx. Because it is missing this foam the new filter has quite a bit of "play" in the slot.
Question for the ones of you that have changed your own. Did your new filter look just like the old one? Did your old one have the gasket?
Think I may have been given the wrong part number?
Here are pics for reference.

i am fairly certain the filter i picked up from the dealer had the gasket on it.

you may have an entirely different model filter that is not the Polyphenol Filter - ACCS Filtration System.

the newer version of the filter you need is : B7277-1CA1A. it replaces B7277-1CA0A, dealer should always have these in stock.

Marc,
Thanks so much for the part #. I took the other filter back this am. Parts guy was the same dip$hit I dealt with yesterday. I told him this was the wrong one. He says that's the one that the computer says your vehicle uses by the vin number. I had my old one with me. I pulled it out and showed it to him and said no this is what was in it.
He goes back and starts mumbling about not having a part number. I remember putting the part number in my phone from here last night. I told him the part number.
Pulled it right up. The filter he had given me was the paper filter. I got the polyphenol filter today. The real kicker? They were the same price and because I looked online to see what time they opened this am I found two coupons for parts that I took back in with me. Saved $11 so that more than paid for the fuel to run back over to the dealer the second time. It's only 5 or so miles from my home.

yup, mine had the gasket

Location of in-cabin micro filter for 2011 qx56

for 2011 qx56

behind the glove box.

search for armada, titan cabin filter change on youtube or your favorite internet search engine on a "how to". in terms of the filter, its in the same place. many years are fine--2007 to current.

thanks guys!

...Unhook the battery, because you have to unplug the air bag sensor in the process.

I was reading through directions on another site for one of our other cars on swapping out steering wheel trim. They said to unhook battery and wait about 20 minutes to ensure airbag in steering wheel is inactive. So be cautious...not sure how long it might hold a charge on this SUV.

Marctronixx can you send over instructions, if that's what you sent earlier? Our QX is hitting 13k miles so this is right around the corner for me as we'll. never mind Marc, just noticed page two and the ref to YouTube :-)

Found these instructions over at infinitihelp:

1) Open Glove Box
2) Lift the handle up and pull up on the glove box door. This should disengage the door and leave the door hanging by a tension string.
3) Unhook the string from the side plastic anchor and the door should come entirely off. Notice that the bottom of the door has two hinge extensions that easily place back in when you are finished.
4) Remove the plastic cover from beneath the glove box compartment that faces the floor. Their is a small light that will likely pop off but easily goes back in place when assembling again.
5) Notice their are three star screws at the top and bottom of the box opening. Unscrew all of them. Once unscrewed, pull the entire box off the dash- this will take a slight use of force and it will pop out. This goes back in place easily as well.
6) remove the black rectangular cover to the filter compartment and remove the air filter.
7) Replace Filter and Replace the door.
8) Attach the light back in place before placing the glove box casing back on the dash. The casing will pop back in place and you can align the right side first and then the center before re-engaing. You will hear a click when it is in place and it will hold. 9) Replace the 6 star screws
10) Re-attach the open loop of the tension cord to the left side anchor of the box door before placing the door on the hinges. Once the tension cord is on the anchor, place the door back on the hinges, lift up the hand and pop back into place

same here. i have never done it and ive changed quite a few between my two armadas and this qx over the years.

i understand why nissan wants you to do this as not everyone is careful and you can mess around and cause some issues if one does not pay attention...

How much is the cabin air filter? My 2011 QX is in for service today and I have doubts about the integrity of this service department. They are telling me I need my cabin air filter changed ($99+tax) and an alignment ($119+tax). I'm tempted to tell them "no thanks" but before I do, wanted to see how difficult and how expensive it is to replace the air filter myself.

One other question, the video I watched on youtube for a Nissan Titan showed the guy pulling out two filters. Do I need to buy two filters or is buying one filter sufficient (meaning do I need two or do they come as a set of two)?

I think the cabin filter was $40 or so?
I can't remember off hand.
The Titan filter and location is different than the qx we have.
Still very easy to do though.
Not worth $99 for them to do it bc they are most likely going to charge you labor on top of that to replace it.
I learned that the hard way when I had my wipers replaced.
Charged me what I could have bought them for at the counter then $25 ($12.50 per wiper) to remove old ones and replace the new ones.
Rookie mistake that won't ever happen again. Lol.

The qx just has one filter. There are three versions of it. The paper filter I got initially was too thin and rattled around. The Polyphenol filter was what my came with. It was more expensive but it is much better designed IMHO.

That looks like the right one. My oem one had a foam gasket around the top edge that helped it sit in snug. The paper filter I got didn't have the gasket and had 1/2" of play in it.

this is what you need:

In-cabin Microfilter -- B7277-1CA1A-- $49.20 (Polyphenol Filter - ACCS Filtration System)

you can probably get this a few dollars cheaper online. there are some fake ones on fleabay.

the OLD model filter is this: B7277-1CA0A. the above filter is the updated version. make sure you get the correct version.
