I live in Oklahoma and do not know much about Infiniti vehicles and am looking for a little help for my grandson.

He lives in Washington state and has purchased a 1997 QX4. It will not start and he has been told it is a crank sensor searches for a you tube or information on how to check it or even find have been unsuccessful.

The VIN is KNAFE161855108519 if someone could point me in the right direction so I can help him get his car running I would appreciate it. He is not so mechanical and I might be better off just paying someone to look at it but......do not want to put much more than the car is worth into it.

Thanks in advance

Buddy

Hey Buddy. Sorry I cant be much help as I am experiencing the same problem on my 2002 qx4. Just curious. Does the engine ever idle, then shut off? Or just wont turn over at all? I replaced my idle control valve twice and flashed engine @ dealership, only to have same problem in a few weeks. Now a different mechanic told me it may be crank shaft sensor. I hope its that simple. Did you have any luck?

crankshaft sensor location

Hey Guys, I put 2001 infiniti qx4 crankshaft position sensor location..into Google.. The first drawing (under images) showed it above the rear Ox2 sensor on the drivers side on that side of the tranny at about 10 O.clock. I didn't look into it any longer... be sure to choose "images" in any such search.

My grandson actually ended up having a compression test done on his 97 Infiniti. He has low compression in about 4 cylinders. It would try to turn over but would never actually start up. Hope this helps.
