Default Recirculate without AC on

Hi,
Is there way to switch to recirculate without the AC turning on? This is very irritating. I read the manual, but it doesn't seem to indicate that this is possible.
Thanks,
Jon

Even the dealer says there isn't. Lame design. Oh well...

I know this thread is old, but answering this anyway in case anyone else searches for an answer. I've owned Nissan, Honda, Acura and now Infiniti and they are all like this. Apparently this is how they prevent window fogging as the AC de-humidifies the air in the cabin as air won't be vented outside when on recirc.

Yes, which is certainly good at times. BUT, there are many more times when I simply want to shut off the outside air but I don't want the AC to come on, such as when behind a vehicle blowing bad exhaust, accelerating up a hill where I don't want to lose power to the AC, in a dusty situation, etc. That's where these controls make no sense.
