Default Map Update?

Has anyone updated their maps? I received the "discount" promo to update mine. Recently had my 80 in my oil and tire service. Asked the service manager and he said it would take 2 hours and would require a separate appointment. I'm almost 2 hours away from the nearest dealer. Obviously I would be interested in knowing if the update is worth the investment? Both time and money.
I have found we use our phones more than the nav because it is so outdated but it was outdated when we got it. For instance a freeway that was opened in 2012 was not shown on our 15 nav when we got it.
Hoping to find out if the update is actually accurate.
Another odd ball is the exit to the Infiniti dealer in Memphis is outdated. There is a cloverleaf entrance/exit and the map shows only a right turn entrance. Dealership is back to the left and the nav wants you to take a right then go down for a michigan left.
Frustrating to say the least and that exit is nowhere close to new...

Default Map Udate

Save your money. You are better off relying on your smart phone. I have updated my map software twice in my 2014 QX80 and the updates still have not corrected roadway errors that were present in the original software from factory.
You can do the update yourself if you choose to do it, but it is time consuming.
There are 5 disc and it takes aprox 30 - 40 min per disc and your vehicle needs the ignition full on or vehicle running the whole time.

I will not ever update mine again. There are too many new roads and re-configuring of intersections that are left out.

Thanks! Unfortunately you have confirmed my suspicions but in the same frame saved me some otherwise wasted cash!

It's something you can do yourself depending on model year ... the newer years don't need to pay the dealer ... $99 plus tax when on promo.

5 discs are required along with any operating system updates. Once you pay they send the pkg for your specific VIN.

Unbelievable 2 hours of the car running or find safe set-up so it doesn't interrupt the power supply while installing.

It was a true waste for me since I only bumped up one year on a MY16. I'll wait 3 years for the next update.

My 2008 requires a trip to the dealer to install since they download and install once you acquire the code.

depends on your location and how much changes occur. I get it done every year. here in LA things change often enough for me to justify.

also, some of the discs will on occasion add some bug fixes, systems updates, so keep that in mind.

many times the set can be had for 99 dollars.
