I have an '04 FX35 that blows cold air from the heat vents whenthe engine is just idling, like at a stop light. Once the car is moving, it blows out nice and hot. This happened last year, and I changed the radiator cap thinking that might be a problem. Once the cap got changed the problem disappeared so I thought everything was OK. The problem started up again. I also noticed that every once in a while I hear a whining noise coming from the engine. It stops when I turn off the A/C/heater motor and doesn't come back when I turn the motor back on. This happened both when I've used the A/C and the heat. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas.
