I found out today that my '95 J30 needs strut rods. I also found out that it comes with a pretty hefty price for repair. I'm looking for a more economical way to get these repairs done. When getting strut rods do the struts need to be replaced also?
Also, the driver side seat controls do not work but the passenger side does. Are they on the same fuse or circuit? What could be the reason the driver side doesn't work?
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

I can understand the confusion but, strut rods have nothing to do with struts. If you follow this link http://www.infinitipartsdepartment.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=215846&Sectionids=19,0&groupid=10023&subgroupid=20135&componentid=61805&make=14&model=J30&year=1995&graphicID=F620100&callout=7&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0 number 7 in the picture is the strut rod. Number 8 is the actual strut.

Thanks for the clarification on the struts and strut rods. The diagram was really helpful.

It was rush hour and I was dashing to a train in New York City's Grand Central Terminal - As I neared the gate, a plump, middle-aged woman sprinted up from behind, lost her footing on the smooth marble floor and slid onto her back. Her momentum carried her close to my shoes Before I could help her, however, she had scrambled up. Gaining her composure, she winked at me and said, "Do you always have beautiful women failing at your feet?"
