View Full Version : Why does my Infiniti FX35 AWD slide so much in the winter snow?

Bought a new 2009 FX35 with AWD & opted for the 20" inch tires over the standard 18". Even at slow speeds with light snow it is sliding all over the road; doesn't make a difference if the 'snow' traction button is on or off. My theory is:
1) Infiniti put on cheap tires (don't really want to buy snow tires but maybe good all season tires may help?)
2) The vehicle is too light relative to the width of the 20" tire & the body of the vehicle ( I put sandbags in the back which helped very little, not noticeably)
Would good ALL-Season tires help or would I just be wasting $ replacing 4 new tires with alternate new tires?

Mainly because of the 20" tires. They are all-seasons from the factory but in snow all-season doesn't mean much. A good snow tire or snow tire and wheel package would REALLY make a big difference. I have sold snow tire packages to customers with 2WD G37 coupes and they can't believe the difference.
