I recently had my master cylinder replaced after my pedal fell and I had no brake pressure. 2 days ago my car was really struggling like I was towing a ton. Then I noticed smoke from the front right tire and a burning smell. Now, when I first drive things are fine but after a short while the pedal gets real hard and the brakes seem like they are always on. If I let go of the gas, I stop immediately. I disconnected my ABS and no luck. Both front wheels get really hot but the rears are fine.
I was trying to figure out if its the booster or BOTH front calipers? I find it strange that it would be both calipers in the front. Reading about hard pedals I found that its the booster usually but it indicates bad braking also. I don't have bad braking just a constant applied brake shortly after I start driving. When the brakes are locked up, if I quickly accelerate forward I get a quick squeak or chirp sound. If I do this in reverse I get a loud metal to metal contact "CLANK" sound. HELP
There seems to be a variety of ideas. "I'm a Loser" I was thinking the same thing, especially about the master cylinder and I will test the booster to eliminate that as a possibility.
Andrew, I don't know what you mean by "if it was real vehicle"? Jody D, I might just replace the calipers since they are 15 yrs old.
