I have 2000 Inifinity G20 which I bought new. I never had any AC problem and I never got my AC checked. Recently a lady hit my car and it destroyed bumper and left side headlight. It also damaged radiator and condensor and when we opened up the hood, we saw green liquid coming out screen looking thing. Body shop worked on it and fixed the bumper, replaced the condensor and AC stopped working. They came back and told me that they found traces of green dye in the AC system which means my AC was not working or had a lead to begin with. They told me that in order for them to find out exactly where the leak it, they would have to look into evaporator and for them to do that it would be about $1000 labor charge. So, I took my car to another mechanic for second opinion and they found a leak/hole near evaporator. Two questions:
1. How do I find out how the dye got into AC system?
2. If my AC was working fine even after the accident, what made it stop working after body shop worked on it?
